Tallin University will hold a special session under the theme “Democracy and the Media at a Crossroads: What Are the Goals and Who Is in Charge?” on february 5th.

The discussion will gather Tallinn University’s Visiting Professor Nico Carpentier, Tallinn University’s Associate Professor of Political Sociology Mari-Liis Jakobson, and University of Tartu Professor of Comparative Politics Piret Ehin to address pressing questions about the role of media systems in shaping democratic futures and who bears the responsibility for navigating these challenges.

This event serves also as a moment to discuss and disseminate the recently published book, “Democracy and Media in Europe: A Discursive-Material Approach”, authored by Nico Carpentier and Jeffrey Wimmer, MeDeMAP project team members.

MeDeMAP’s new book, “Democracy and Media in Europe: A Discursive-Material Approach”, provides a different perspective on the interplay of discourses and materialities in European media landscapes.
